Plans stay on your device

ScoutTrip stores trip plans in the browser on the device you are using. ScoutTrip does not currently provide accounts or a trip-plan database. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to view those plans.

Starting, destination, and route-stop addresses are also stored in that local trip plan. Use public troop meeting places and public destinations rather than Scouts’ home addresses.

You can remove one trip with its Delete button, clear all plans through your browser’s site-data controls, or download a private backup before removing anything.

The adult-sharing tool keeps entered email addresses only in the open page. They are not saved with the trip or sent to ScoutTrip. If someone opens an email draft, the device’s email application receives the addresses and breakdown. If someone uses the device Share menu, only the breakdown is passed to the app they choose; entered addresses are not added automatically. The sender must review the destination, recipients, and details before sending.

Route links and addresses

ScoutTrip can create a Google Maps directions link from the addresses entered in a trip. ScoutTrip does not send those addresses to Google while the form is being completed. When someone opens the route link, the start, destination, and intermediate stops are included in the Google Maps URL and processed by Google under its own terms and privacy practices. If someone separately asks the route-stop AI helper for ideas, the start and destination are also sent to the AI and search providers described below.

ScoutTrip does not verify addresses, calculate road conditions, guarantee the fastest route, or provide emergency navigation. An adult should review the route, current conditions, vehicle restrictions, and safe stopping places before travel.

Information used for AI suggestions

Nothing is sent to an AI service until someone presses a button to request ideas. The separate troop-meeting meal tool can send a city or general area, selected trip-day numbers and meals, a per-person budget, patrol size, available cooking equipment, and an optional help request to Cloudflare Workers AI. Its ideas are not connected to or saved in a trip.

Restaurant requests inside a trip can include selected trip dates and meals, general areas, a per-person budget, patrol size, and optional preferences. Cloudflare Workers AI helps produce ideas, and restaurant names and general areas are sent to SerpApi to find source links.

Tourist-stop requests can include selected dates, general areas, whether stops should be inside or outside the destination, a maximum distance, interests, excluded places, a per-person budget, and optional instructions. General areas, location scope, distance, and interests are sent to SerpApi first to find public source excerpts. Cloudflare Workers AI then ranks only those sourced possibilities.

Campsite requests can include a park, landmark, city, or destination area; trip dates; total group size; camping style; maximum distance; nightly budget; and optional preferences. Cloudflare Workers AI helps compare source excerpts, and the public-area search is sent to SerpApi. Results do not confirm distance, current prices, group rules, seasonal opening, reservations, or availability.

Possible route-stop requests can include the starting and destination locations, whether the troop wants a tourist, food, or fuel/rest stop, a budget, and optional preferences. Those details are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI and SerpApi. Results are only possibilities and are not proof that a place is on the fastest route; Scouts and adults should check the final detour in Google Maps.

ScoutTrip does not write those AI requests to its own trip database. The outside providers process requests under their own terms and privacy practices.

Before the first AI request on a device, ScoutTrip displays this information and asks the person to continue. That choice is stored on the device and can be cleared below.

Safety for Scouts

Use a city, park, or general meeting area rather than a home address or private gathering point. Do not enter Scout names, email addresses, phone numbers, medical information, school information, or other private details. Younger Scouts should use ScoutTrip with adult supervision.

Technical information and retention

The hosting and AI systems receive normal technical request information needed to operate and protect the service. ScoutTrip temporarily uses a shortened fingerprint derived from a request’s network address to limit AI abuse; it is kept only in server memory and is not placed in a user profile.

ScoutTrip currently has no advertising, behavioral analytics, or sale of personal information. Locally saved plans remain until someone deletes them or clears the browser’s data.
